Evergy Missouri Metro and Evergy Missouri West File Renewable Energy Standard Compliance Reports and Plans

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.--- Evergy Metro, Inc. d/b/a Evergy Missouri Metro and Evergy Missouri West, Inc. d/b/a Evergy Missouri West have filed their 2025 Renewable Energy Standard (RES) Compliance Reports and 2026-2028 RES Compliance Plans with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC).
The requirement for investor-owned electric utilities to file a RES Compliance Plan and annual Compliance Report stems from 2008 voter-approved Proposition C. This law requires investor-owned electric utilities in Missouri to obtain renewable energy resources accounting for at least 15% of their retail sales, including at least 2% from solar energy. The utilities must file a report with the PSC each year outlining what they have done to meet these compliance standards in the previous calendar year as well as a report showing how they intend to comply for the current year and the following two years.
In response to Evergy’s filings, the PSC Staff has been directed to review the compliance reports and file a report with the Commission no later than May 29, 2026. Any other interested parties may also file comments on or before May 29, 2026.
