Summary

The Department of the Army is seeking public comment on a proposed information collection for the Army Youth Program Evaluation Survey. This survey aims to assess the impact of the Child, Youth, and School Services (CYSS) Youth Program on family well-being and Soldier mission focus. Public comments are due by April 13, 2026.

What changed

The Department of the Army, through its Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff G-1, has issued a 60-day notice seeking public comment on a proposed information collection, the Army Youth Program Evaluation Survey (OMB Control Number 0702-CYSS). This survey is intended to evaluate the effectiveness of the Child, Youth, and School Services (CYSS) Youth Program by comparing outcomes between participating and non-participating Army families. The collection is designed to assess impacts on Soldier mission focus and family/youth well-being.

Regulated entities, specifically individuals or households within the Army community, are invited to submit comments by April 13, 2026, regarding the necessity, utility, accuracy, and clarity of the proposed information collection. The agency is particularly interested in suggestions to enhance data quality and minimize respondent burden. While this is a consultation notice and not an enforcement action, feedback is crucial for shaping the final information collection instruments and ensuring their practical utility and compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act.

What to do next

  1. Review the proposed Army Youth Program Evaluation Survey for potential impact.
  2. Submit comments on the survey's necessity, utility, and burden by April 13, 2026.
  3. Consult with legal and compliance teams regarding any potential implications for Army families.
