Department of Defense Proposed Collection Comment Request
Summary
The Department of Defense (DoD) is requesting public comment on a proposed information collection related to the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference Program (JCOC). This notice is issued in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 and seeks input on the necessity, utility, accuracy of burden estimates, and potential improvements for the collection.
What changed
The Department of Defense (DoD), specifically the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs (OASD(PA)), has issued a notice requesting public comment on a proposed information collection. This collection, associated with the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference Program (JCOC) Nomination Form and Registration Form (OMB Control Number 0704-0562), is necessary to administer the program, verify eligibility of nominators and candidates, and select participants. The agency estimates an annual burden of 33 hours, with 180 respondents.
This is a standard procedural step under the Paperwork Reduction Act. While the notice itself does not impose new obligations, regulated entities or individuals who may be involved in nominating or being nominated for the JCOC program should be aware of the comment period. The agency is seeking feedback on the practical utility of the information, the accuracy of its burden estimates, and ways to minimize respondent burden. The comment period closes on May 26, 2026.
What to do next
- Review the proposed information collection for the JCOC program.
- Submit comments to the Department of Defense by May 26, 2026, if relevant.
