Foreign States Can Try to Influence the Danish Parliamentary Election
PET, FE, and SAMSIK have published a three-page threat assessment on foreign interference ahead of Denmark's March 24, 2026 parliamentary election. The assessment finds Russia is the primary threat actor for influence activities, which include disinformation, cyberattacks, and attempts to polarise public debate or target specific candidates and parties. The assessment notes that US interest in Greenland has created new international fault lines that foreign states such as Russia and China could exploit for influence purposes. Danish authorities are monitoring the situation through the interministerial Taskforce Påvirkn.
No Foreign Interference Found in Danish 2026 Parliamentary Election
FE (Danish Defence Intelligence Service), PET (Danish Police Intelligence Service), and SAMSIK (Agency for Government Supply) have published their preliminary findings on the March 24, 2026 Danish parliamentary election. The three agencies found no evidence of influence activities by foreign intelligence services in connection with the election. However, the agencies observed that profiles linked to Russian online environments shared distorted statements about Danish politicians during the campaign, spreading pro-Russian messages with limited reach. Disinformation about Denmark, particularly regarding Greenland, achieved wider circulation in some cases. Pro-Russian hacker groups also launched distributed denial-of-service attacks against Danish and Greenlandic websites, though within typical baseline activity levels for this type of attack.
Most Municipalities Complete Concrete Cover Grave Inspections
A majority of Denmark's municipalities and rescue services completed their inspections of concrete cover graves (betondækningsgrave) before the March 15, 2026 deadline. Four municipalities and four municipal rescue services were granted deadline extensions. Styrelsen for Samfundssikkerhed is currently processing the received reports and has stated it is not yet possible to draw final conclusions about capacity until the full analysis is complete. The nationwide inspection was preceded by a pilot inspection in October 2025 before the full rollout in December 2025.
