Digital Switzerland Strategy 2026, Three Focus Themes
The Federal Council adopted the updated Digital Switzerland Strategy for 2026 on 12 December 2025, maintaining the strategy framework first established in 2022. Three focus themes are defined for 2026: digital sovereignty (enhancing the Federal Administration's digital resilience and crisis-capability), digital host state (strengthening International Geneva's cyber resilience, data centre security, and cloud infrastructure), and introduction of the e-ID (enabling secure online identity verification for residents and Swiss citizens abroad). The strategy is binding for the Federal Administration and serves as a frame of reference for other players including politics, authorities, business, science, and civil society.

An initial coordination meeting chaired by the CDSS took place on Monday, with weekly meetings scheduled until further notice. The FDJP, represented by the Federal Office of Justice (FOJ), is examining whether gaps exist in existing victim support services under the Victim Support Act (VSA) and whether additional measures are needed to assist those affected.
Federal Council Pledges Federal Support to Crans-Montana Fire Victims and Families
The Swiss Federal Council has committed to supporting victims of the Crans-Montana fire and their families, pledging to request parliamentary funding if necessary. At its meeting on 14 January 2026, the Federal Council directed the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP) to examine by the end of February whether existing support services under the Victim Support Act (VSA) have gaps and how federal assistance can complement insurance and Valais cantonal support. Federal contributions would be supplementary in nature.
