San Marino joined the Council of Europe in 1988
Secretary General Alain Berset will pay an official visit to the Republic of San Marino (31 March–1 April) on the occasion of the Investiture Ceremony of Their Excellencies the Captains Regent.
Alain Berset will be the Official Speaker in Palazzo Valloni, where he will deliver a speech.
In addition, a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, International Economic Co-operation and Digital Transformation Luca Beccari, and an audience with the outgoing Captains Regent Matteo Rossi and Lorenzo Bugli will take place.
San Marino, a member of the Council of Europe since 1988, represents a unique model of democracy based upon civic autonomy and self-government with a firm belief in multilateral cooperation.
