1. Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Mr Edwin Tong SC will visit Hong Kong from 19 to 21 March 2026.
2. During the visit, Minister will participate in events organised by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“ SIAC ”), in conjunction with the 23rd Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“ Vis East Moot ”). The SIAC Rules have been selected for the first time as the applicable arbitration rules for both the 23rd Vis East Moot in Hong Kong and the 33rd Vis Moot in Vienna later this month.
3. Minister Tong said “The selection of the SIAC Rules for both Vis and Vis East Moots for the first time is a strong endorsement from the global arbitration community of SIAC – and a fitting way to mark SIAC’s 35th anniversary.”
4. Minister Tong will deliver opening remarks at the SIAC Cocktail Reception, and participate in a fireside chat moderated by Ms Lucy Reed, President of the (SIAC Court of Arbitration. The discussion will cover the future of international arbitration, the evolution of global arbitration hubs, and opportunities for the next generation of practitioners in the field.
5. Minister Tong will also meet Hong Kong Secretary for Justice Paul Lam SC, Hong Kong Secretary for Security Chris Tang and leaders of the Hong Kong Bar Association.
6. Minister Tong will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Law.
