Summary

The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs announced a series of free webinars and educational resources for National Financial Literacy Month in April 2026. The agency will host five webinars covering topics including imposter scams, budgeting, credit reports, electric bills, and debt collection. Resources include free publications, the LifeSmarts consumer challenge for teens, and community presentation requests.

What changed

SCDCA is promoting financial literacy through five free webinars scheduled throughout April 2026, covering topics from basic money management to scam prevention and debt collection. Topics include imposter scams, credit basics, credit reports and scores, understanding electric bills, and debt collection red flags. The agency also offers free publications including the "Credit Reports: What They Are and Why They Matter" guide (up to 50 copies per request), and its staff can provide educational presentations to community organizations.

Consumers interested in these resources should register for webinars via the provided Zoom links and take advantage of free educational materials available on the SCDCA website. Community organizations can request in-person presentations through the outreach form. No compliance actions are required as this is purely educational outreach; however, consumers should remain alert to scams and review their credit reports regularly.
