NSW Fair Trading has taken disciplinary action against former tow truck driver Brett David Shearer. Mr Shearer was charged with and pleaded guilty to two offences relating to conduct that occurred in connection with his work in the tow truck industry, namely:
- one personal violence offence that involved intimidating another person with the intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm; and
- one offence of larceny involving the theft of 5 sets of car keys. Based on the above offences and related conduct, Mr Shearer was found to no longer be a fit and proper person to hold a Tow Truck Drivers Certificate. Mr Shearer has been reprimanded and disqualified from holding a Licence or Drivers Certificate for a period of 3 years.
