NSW Government Opens $36M World-Class Facilities at Scone Race Club

The NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing officially opened $36 million in new world-class facilities at Scone Race Club on 7 April 2026, including a state-of-the-art Polytrack training surface and new stables. The funding is part of the NSW Government's $67 million Racing for the Regions program, with additional infrastructure projects at Muswellbrook ($4.2M) and Cessnock ($11.5M) to support regional racing industry development.

Research Project on Hospitality Worker Safety

Liquor & Gaming NSW announced a research project by the University of New South Wales and the University of Melbourne examining sexual harassment and sexual assault in licensed hospitality settings. The survey targets current and former hospitality workers and will inform evidence-based strategies and policy recommendations for venue operators, employers, and government. Participation is anonymous and voluntary, taking approximately 15-30 minutes to complete.

ANZAC Day NSW Hospitality Restrictions, 27th Apr

Liquor & Gaming NSW issued its April 2026 Hospitality and Racing Newsletter covering ANZAC Day observance on 27 April, annual liquor licence fee (ALLF) payment due 29 May, a new voluntary Code of Practice for facial recognition technology in hotels and clubs gazetted 18 March, and a renewed GambleAware Parents campaign. An evaluation of the 2024 gaming reforms is underway through Ipsos Public Affairs in partnership with CQUniversity. Racing for the Regions funding includes $20M for Scone Race Club upgrades and $800K for Tumbarumba Equine Club improvements.
