Summary

The Ontario Securities Commission issued investor warnings for 43 companies not registered to deal or advise in securities in Ontario. The warnings cover entities operating in cryptocurrency trading, forex, and investment platforms during the period March 17 to April 7, 2026. Ontarians who have been contacted by any listed entities are advised to contact the OSC.

What changed

The OSC added 43 companies to its investor warnings and alerts list, identifying them as unregistered to deal or advise in securities in Ontario. The listed entities operate across cryptocurrency trading platforms, forex services, and investment schemes. Affected parties include Ontario investors who may have been approached by these unregistered entities. The OSC maintains this warning list to protect investors from potential fraud. No specific penalties are stated in this notice; rather, it serves as an informational consumer protection measure.

For affected parties, the primary implication is reputational risk and potential loss of investor trust for the listed entities. Registered dealers and advisors should note this list when verifying counterparties. Investors should treat these warnings as red flags and verify registration status before engaging with any financial service provider. The OSC's action reinforces the importance of securities registration compliance in Ontario.

What to do next

  1. Verify registration status of any financial service providers using OSC's investor warnings list
  2. Report contact from unregistered entities to the OSC Contact Centre at 1-877-785-1555
  3. Subscribe to OSC email notifications for future investor warnings
