EBA Decision Harmonises SEPA Reporting for National Authorities
The European Banking Authority published a Decision harmonising how National Competent Authorities report SEPA payment data. NCAs must now report exclusively to the EBA through a single channel, which then shares data with the European Commission. The Decision also amends the EUCLID Decision Annex to incorporate the new requirement and takes effect immediately.
EBA Consults on Major Simplification of EU Supervisory Reporting Framework
The European Banking Authority has opened a public consultation on revised Implementing Technical Standards that would significantly simplify EU supervisory reporting requirements. The proposed changes aim to reduce harmonised reporting data points by approximately 50% while integrating EU-wide stress test and benchmarking data collections into regular reporting. Separate deadlines apply: 10 May 2026 for IFRS 18-related FINREP changes and 10 July 2026 for all other supervisory reporting changes.

EBA Consults Revised Shadow Banking Exposure Limits Under CRR
The European Banking Authority launched a consultation on revised Guidelines concerning limits on exposures to shadow banking entities under the Capital Requirements Regulation. Key changes include moving the basis for limits from eligible capital to Tier 1 capital, removing the 0.25% materiality threshold, and aligning the framework with RTS that took effect in January 2024. The consultation aims to support sound risk management and governance practices across institutions.
EBA Publishes Known DPM Issues List for Reporting Transparency
The European Banking Authority announced it will publish on a regular basis a list of known issues related to its data point model (DPM) framework, covering Pillar 3 disclosures and resolution planning reporting. The list includes brief descriptions, affected artefacts, severity assessments, current status, available workarounds, and indicative resolution timelines. This initiative supports reporting institutions and national competent authorities by providing a single reference point for recurring technical questions, as part of the EBA's broader simplification efforts.

EBA Chair Appointment - François-Louis Michaud
The European Banking Authority announced that François-Louis Michaud will take up his role as EBA Chair on 16 April 2026, following formal appointment by the Council of the European Union on 26 February 2026 and confirmation by the European Parliament on 10 March 2026. His term of office runs for five years and may be extended once. Michaud previously served as Executive Director of the EBA since September 2020.
EBA streamlines supervisory approvals for IRB model changes
The EBA published amendments to Regulatory Technical Standards on material model changes, significantly reducing the number of changes classified as material by shifting to quantitative thresholds and limiting qualitative triggers to model redevelopments and definition of default changes. This streamlines the approval process for IRB model changes while maintaining supervisory oversight. The revised RTS align with CRR3 and are expected to accelerate IRB model approvals for EU banks.
