Summary

The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) has revoked Brandon Karim's insurance license. The revocation is due to fraud and untrustworthy conduct in business dealings, as admitted by the respondent in a stipulation accepted by the Director. Karim is prohibited from reapplying for any DIFS-administered license.

What changed

The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) has issued an Order Accepting Stipulation and revoking the insurance license of Brandon Karim (Enforcement Case No. 26-18950). The revocation stems from Karim's admitted attempt to obtain a license through misrepresentation or fraud and his use of fraudulent or dishonest practices, demonstrating untrustworthiness. These actions violate specific sections of the Michigan Insurance Code.

This order means Brandon Karim can no longer operate as an insurance agent in Michigan and is explicitly barred from reapplying for any license administered by DIFS. Compliance officers should note this action as an example of strict enforcement against fraudulent conduct within the insurance industry, highlighting the severe consequences of misrepresentation and dishonest practices.

What to do next

  1. Review internal processes for license application verification to prevent misrepresentation.
  2. Ensure all licensed agents are aware of the consequences of fraudulent or dishonest practices as per MCL 500.1239.

Penalties

License revoked. Prohibited from reapplying for any DIFS-administered license.
