NBB Warns of Deepfake Investment Scams Using Governor's Image

The National Bank of Belgium (NBB) issued a public warning on 24 April 2026 about widespread fraudulent practices using deepfake images of Governor Pierre Wunsch to promote fake investment and cryptocurrency platforms on social media. Fraudsters are also spoofing the NBB's telephone number to request bank account details or prompt software installations under false pretenses. The NBB clarifies it does not provide financial advice, request banking credentials by phone, or contact the public to request software installation.
