FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: communications@nccpaboard.gov 15 NORTH CAROLINA CANDIDATES PASS THE UNIFORM CPA EXAMINATION Raleigh--The North Carolina State Board of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examiners is pleased to announce that 15 North Carolina candidates (see attached list) successfully passed the Uniform CPA Examination in February 2026. Passing the Uniform CPA Examination confirms that candidates have demonstrated the technical knowledge and professional skills required to protect the public interest and meet the standards for CPA licensure. In addition to passing the examination, individuals seeking licensure as Certified Public Accountants in North Carolina must also satisfy the State's education, professional experience, and moral character requirements. The Uniform CPA Examination underwent significant changes in January 2024. Previously, candidates were required to pass four sections: Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Business Environment and Concepts (BEC), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Regulation (REG). The examination has since transitioned to a Core + Discipline format. Under the updated structure, candidates must pass three Core sections, Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Taxation and Regulation (REG), as well as one Discipline section. Discipline options include Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), Information Systems and Controls (ISC), and Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP).

About the Board Established by Chapter 93 of the North Carolina General Statutes, the State Board of CPA Examiners is an occupational licensing board that grants certificates of qualification as CPAs to individuals who meet the statutory requirements. The Board also adopts and enforces the rules of professional ethics and conduct that CPAs in North Carolina must observe. Board members are appointed by the Governor and serve three-year terms. Five members must be holders of valid and unrevoked North Carolina CPA certificates issued by the Board, as per the North Carolina General Statutes. The remaining two members, who are not CPAs, represent the public at large.
