Modernization of FMVSS No. 110 to Accommodate ADS-Equipped Vehicles

NHTSA has published a notice of proposed rulemaking to amend Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, which governs tire selection and rims for vehicles with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or less. The proposed modification would allow manufacturers of vehicles equipped with Automated Driving Systems (ADS) that lack manually operated driving controls to affix the required safety placard on the left side of the vehicle instead of the driver's side.
