What changed
The FHWA seeks OMB reinstatement of a previously approved information collection (OMB Control 2125-0617) for the DDETFP Local Competition Fellowship. No comments were received during the initial 60-day Federal Register notice period published December 15, 2025. A 30-day public comment period is now open. Institutions of higher education currently participating in or considering the DDETFP program should monitor for updates following the May 18, 2026 comment close date.
The information collection covers applications and reporting for selecting student designees to receive DDETFP Fellowship Awards. While the notice does not create new substantive obligations, colleges and universities in the transportation sector should be aware of the program's annual reporting cadence and estimated 2,280-hour aggregate annual burden across all respondents.
