CITT Amends Order on Photovoltaic Modules from China
Summary
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has amended its order concerning photovoltaic modules and laminates from China. The amendment excludes specific flexible photovoltaic modules used in vehicles from the order.
What changed
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) has completed an interim review and amended its existing order concerning photovoltaic modules and laminates originating in or exported from China. The key change is the exclusion of flexible photovoltaic modules designed for curved vehicle surfaces, such as transport truck fairings, with a power output not exceeding 200 W. This amendment modifies the scope of the existing order, which was originally made on March 25, 2021.
This action directly impacts manufacturers and importers of these specific types of photovoltaic modules. Companies dealing with the excluded flexible modules will no longer be subject to the original order's provisions. Compliance officers should review their product classifications and import documentation to ensure alignment with the amended order, particularly for flexible photovoltaic modules intended for vehicle applications. No specific compliance deadline is mentioned, as this is an amendment to an existing order.
What to do next
- Review product classifications for photovoltaic modules and laminates from China.
- Ensure compliance with the amended order, specifically regarding the exclusion of flexible photovoltaic modules for vehicle applications.
