The TRA has opened a new investigation into imports of titanium dioxide from China. Businesses affected by this investigation can register by 17 March 2026.

From: Trade Remedies Authority Published 3 March 2026

The Trade Remedies Authority has today (3 March 2026) initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of rutile titanium dioxide from China. This investigation is in response to an application, which has alleged that imports of rutile titanium dioxide from China are being dumped into the UK and that these imports are causing injury to domestic industry .

Rutile titanium dioxide is widely used as a white pigment to provide brightness, opacity, and durability in coatings, plastics, paper and many other industrial and consumer products.

The TRA will investigate whether dumping of the imports is occurring and whether this is causing injury to UK industry. If the TRA recommends that a remedy is necessary, it will conduct an Economic Interest Test to assess whether the implementation of the remedy is in the UK’s economic interest.

Important information for businesses

Businesses which think they could be affected by this investigation can get involved/input by registering on the investigation’s public file. The TRA will also be holding an online drop-in session on 6 March 2026 to provide more information to businesses and to answer any questions.
