What changed

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued patent US12587321B2 to Intel Corporation, detailing an enhanced Type-3 HARQ-ACK codebook transmission system. The patent describes a gNB configuring a User Equipment (UE) for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgment (ACK) retransmission using an enhanced Type-3 codebook, triggered by DCI format 11 or 12 and transmitted via PUCCH or PUSCH. The system specifies information within the DCI related to carrier configuration, cell indexes, HARQ process selection (all, SPS, or non-SPS), priority HARQ process selection (all, high, or low priority), and HARQ process range.

This patent represents a new technological advancement in wireless communication protocols, specifically concerning the efficiency of error correction and retransmission mechanisms. While this is a patent grant and not a regulatory rule imposing direct compliance obligations, companies operating in the wireless telecommunications sector, particularly those involved in developing or deploying 5G and future mobile network infrastructure, should be aware of this patented technology. Manufacturers and network operators may need to consider licensing or alternative designs to avoid potential infringement.

Abstract

An apparatus and system are described to provide enhanced Type-3 HARQ-ACK codebook transmission are described. A gNB configures a UE for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgment (ACK) (HARQ-ACK) retransmission using the enhanced Type-3 codebook using radio resource control signaling. The enhanced Type-3 codebook is triggered by downlink control information (DCI) format 11 or 12 and transmitted using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). Information in the DCI includes: whether to use configured, activated, or indicated carriers, cell indexes for the carriers, whether to use all HARQ processes, use only semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) processes, or use only non-SPS processes, whether to use all priority HARQ processes, use only high priority HARQ processes, or use only low priority HARQ processes, and HARQ process range.
