Summary

The Vermont Department of Taxes is transitioning its Current Use application processing from the eCuse platform to the myVTax taxpayer portal. This change aims to streamline submissions for new applications, transfers, agricultural certifications, and forest management reports, offering enhanced convenience and faster processing for taxpayers and officials.

What changed

The Vermont Department of Taxes is migrating its Current Use application processing, including new applications, transfers, annual agricultural certifications, and forest management activity reports, from the legacy eCuse system to the myVTax taxpayer portal. This transition, effective after the September 1st deadline for new applications, will temporarily suspend online transfer and new applications between October 17 and December 10, 2025. Filings due during this period will be considered timely if submitted by January 15, 2026.

This move is intended to provide a more convenient and efficient process for taxpayers, municipal officials, and real estate attorneys by consolidating all submissions into a single myVTax account. Benefits include pre-populated application fields, faster processing times, and secure communication through the portal. Taxpayers and officials should plan for the temporary system unavailability and the new submission process via myVTax, which will be fully available by December 10, 2025.

What to do next

  1. Plan for temporary unavailability of online Current Use transfer and new applications between Oct 17 and Dec 10, 2025.
  2. Ensure all filings due between Oct 18 and Dec 9, 2025, are submitted by January 15, 2026.
  3. Familiarize users with the myVTax portal for future Current Use application submissions.
