A.M. v. C.C. - Appeal Dismissal
Summary
The Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals has dismissed the appeal in A.M. v. C.C. due to the appellant's failure to file an opening brief by the established deadline. The court issued a default notice and proceeded with dismissal after no further action was taken by the appellant.
What changed
The Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals has issued an order dismissing the appeal in the case of A.M. v. C.C. The dismissal stems from the self-represented appellant, A.M., failing to file the required opening brief by the deadline of December 1, 2025, and not seeking an extension. Following a default notice issued on December 23, 2025, and no subsequent action from A.M., the court proceeded with the dismissal.
This action signifies the finalization of the appellate process for this specific appeal due to procedural non-compliance. For legal professionals involved in appellate cases, this serves as a reminder of the strict adherence required for filing deadlines and the consequences of default under the Hawaiʻi Rules of Appellate Procedure. No further action is required from regulated entities as this is a specific court ruling on procedural matters.

NOT FOR PUBLICATION IN WEST'S HAWAIʻI REPORTS AND PACIFIC REPORTER
(2) Self-represented Petitioner/Respondent-Appellant
A.M. failed to file the opening brief or request an extension of
time;
(3) On December 23, 2025, the appellate clerk entered

opening brief had expired, the matter would be called to the

dismissed.
