FCA consults on regulated fees and levies for 2026/27
Summary
The FCA is consulting on proposed regulatory fees and levies for the 2026/27 period. This consultation seeks feedback on rates intended to fund the FCA and the Financial Ombudsman Service, as well as collect levies for government departments. The consultation is open to all FCA fee-payers and relevant levy payers.
What changed
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued Consultation Paper CP26/11, proposing new rates for regulatory fees and levies for the 2026/27 financial year. These fees and levies are crucial for funding the FCA's operations and those of the Financial Ombudsman Service, as well as collecting statutory levies on behalf of various government departments. The consultation is open to all firms that pay FCA fees, general levy payers for the Financial Ombudsman Service, and any entities considering FCA authorisation or registration.
Firms and relevant stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the proposed rates by April 30, 2026. The FCA plans to consider these comments and, subject to board approval in June 2026, publish a Policy Statement with final rules in early July 2026. While this is a consultation and not a final rule, the proposed changes will impact the operational budgets of regulated entities and those seeking authorization, necessitating a review of their fee obligations for the upcoming fiscal year.
