Flags at Half-Staff Honoring Sheriff William Earl Hilton

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has issued Executive Order JML, directing that the flags of the United States and the State of Louisiana be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol and all state buildings on Friday, March 27, 2026, from sunrise until sunset. The order honors former Rapides Parish Sheriff William Earl Hilton, who served in law enforcement for 50 years, retiring in 2020 after 24 years as Sheriff. The order is effective immediately upon signature on March 25, 2026, and remains in effect only until sunset on March 27, 2026.
