CDRH Grants Variance to University of Texas at Austin

FDA CDRH issued a variance approval to The University of Texas at Austin on April 22, 2026, granting an exception to standard medical device regulatory requirements under the referenced variance proceeding. The variance allows UT Austin to conduct specified activities that would otherwise require separate FDA authorization under 21 CFR Part 812. DOL Awards $10.5M Mine Safety Grants to 45 States, Navajo Nation

The U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration has awarded more than $10.5 million in grants to 48 recipients across 45 states, the Navajo Nation, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The grants support federally mandated training and re-training for miners at surface, underground coal, and metal and nonmetal mines, as well as shell dredging and surface stone, sand, and gravel operations. Recipients include state mine inspectors' offices, state departments of labor, and state-supported universities and colleges that tailor training to local mining conditions and hazards.
