Dog Adoption and Training for Veterans With PTSD Symptoms

NIH registered a new single-arm clinical trial (NCT07542431) on ClinicalTrials.gov to evaluate whether a dog adoption and training program can decrease posttraumatic stress symptoms and improve psychosocial health in veterans with self-reported PTSD symptoms. The study will enroll participants who will attend eight one-hour professional dog training sessions within a 10-week period and visit the clinical research unit four times for data collection. Participants will also undergo assessments measuring inflammation, oxytocin levels, and brain structure and resting-state function changes.
