Central Bank Governors at Adria Future Summit Discuss Future of Digital Euro

Central bank governors from Montenegro, Slovenia, and Estonia participated in a panel at the Adria Future Summit 2026 to discuss the future of money in digital Europe, focusing on the digital euro and modern payment innovations. Governor Radović emphasized that early interoperability with new European financial systems is of strategic importance for Montenegro, noting the country's integration into SEPA and development of instant payment infrastructure aligned with the Eurosystem. Montenegro expressed strong interest in being considered as a pilot jurisdiction for the application of the digital euro in countries outside the euro area that use the euro.

CBCG Presents Results of European Agenda and Payment System Reform in Washington

Montenegro's Central Bank Governor Irena Radović led a delegation to Washington for the World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings, presenting the CBCG's progress on EU integration obligations for 2025, including full alignment in banking supervision, payment systems, anti-money laundering, and bank resolution. The delegation also participated in roundtables on the TIPS Clone instant payment system for the Western Balkans and the WE Finance Code initiative, where Montenegro was recognised as one of the most successful implementers.
