Dustin Eric Wilson appealed his conviction arguing ineffective assistance of counsel after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, receiving 120 months in prison. The Fourth Circuit affirmed, finding the record did not support his claims that counsel's failure to seek release (rather than treatment) for his untreated medical condition rendered his plea involuntary. At his plea hearing Wilson confirmed his mind was clear, he was satisfied with his attorney, and he understood all parts of the proceeding.
