DOL Recovers $63,645 for 8 Austin Restaurant Workers Denied Overtime

The Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division found that El Beto's Tacos LLC, operating as Beto's Restaurant and Bar in Austin, Texas, violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to pay overtime premiums and making illegal wage deductions from tipped employees. Investigators determined workers averaged over eight overtime hours weekly without proper compensation. The employer also deducted uniform expenses from tipped workers' wages, resulting in pay below the minimum wage. The DOL recovered $63,645 in back wages for the eight affected workers.
