APHIS Authorizes Fresh Glasswort Import from Israel

APHIS has authorized the importation of fresh leaves and stems of glasswort (Salicornia europaea L.) for consumption from Israel into the United States, effective April 21, 2026. The decision follows a pest risk analysis and 60-day public comment period that concluded June 10, 2025. Imports must comply with phytosanitary measures specified in the APHIS Agricultural Commodity Import Requirements (ACIR) database and general requirements under 7 CFR 319.56-3.
