Summary
The UK Housing Ombudsman has released new multilingual videos to support residents in understanding their complaints process. These videos are now available in an expanded range of languages, including Akan, Arabic, Bengali, and Spanish, in addition to previously available languages. The initiative aims to make the Ombudsman's services more accessible and inclusive for social housing residents in England.
What changed
The UK Housing Ombudsman has expanded its offering of multilingual videos designed to assist residents in navigating the complaints process. Phase 2 of this initiative introduces videos in 12 additional languages, including Akan, Arabic, Bengali, Gujarati, Italian, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, Sylheti, Tagalog, Tamil, and Urdu. These videos provide clear explanations of what a complaint is, how to make one, a step-by-step guide to the process, and the Ombudsman's role.
These videos are intended to enhance accessibility and inclusivity for social housing residents across England. While this is an informational release and does not impose new compliance obligations, it highlights the Ombudsman's commitment to clear communication. Compliance officers should be aware of these resources as they may be used by residents seeking to understand the complaints procedure.
