Summary
The USPTO has granted patent US12584156B2 to Ajinomoto Co., Inc. for a method of producing objective proteins using animal cells. The method involves culturing animal cells with increased phosphoric acid and/or potassium concentration in the culture medium.
What changed
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued patent US12584156B2 to Ajinomoto Co., Inc. The patent covers a novel method for producing objective proteins by culturing animal cells. The key innovation lies in increasing the phosphoric acid concentration and/or potassium concentration within the culture medium to enhance protein production.
This patent grant is primarily an intellectual property matter for Ajinomoto. While it establishes a new patent for a specific biotechnological process, it does not impose new regulatory obligations on other entities. Companies operating in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, particularly those involved in protein production using animal cell cultures, should be aware of this patent to avoid potential infringement.
