What changed

This document, the His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland (Appointment) Order 2026, formally appoints Ruth Anne Binks to the position of His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland. The Order is made under the powers conferred by the Education (Scotland) Act 2025 and comes into force on March 30, 2026. The appointment is based on the recommendation of the Scottish Ministers.

This is a routine administrative appointment. For compliance officers, this means a key leadership position within Scotland's education regulatory framework has been filled. No immediate compliance actions are required for regulated entities, but awareness of the new appointee is noted.
