Summary

The UK Privy Council has issued the Inspectors of Education, Children’s Services and Skills Order 2026, appointing individuals to these inspector roles. The order, made on March 10, 2026, and effective March 11, 2026, lists the names of the newly appointed inspectors.

What changed

This Statutory Instrument, the Inspectors of Education, Children’s Services and Skills Order 2026, formally appoints individuals to serve as His Majesty’s Inspectors. Made on March 10, 2026, and effective the following day, the order exercises powers granted under the Education and Inspections Act 2006. The primary function of this instrument is to designate specific persons, listed in the schedule, for these critical inspection roles within the education and children's services sectors in England.

For compliance officers, this order represents a formalization of inspection personnel. While it does not impose new direct obligations on regulated entities, it signifies the operational readiness of the inspection bodies. No specific compliance deadlines or penalties are associated with this appointment order itself. Its significance lies in confirming the individuals who will carry out future regulatory oversight and assessments within the specified domains.
