Delegation of Authority for Executive Order 14163 and Presidential Proclamations
Summary
The Department of State has issued a notice delegating authority related to Executive Order 14163 and Presidential Proclamation 10998, which restricts the entry of foreign nationals. This notice clarifies internal agency responsibilities for implementing these executive actions.
What changed
The Department of State has issued Delegation of Authority No. 617, formalizing the internal distribution of responsibilities for implementing Executive Order 14163 and Presidential Proclamation 10998. This order, along with related INA 212(f) proclamations, restricts and limits the entry of foreign nationals into the United States. The notice itself does not introduce new policy but clarifies which officials within the Department of State are empowered to act on these existing executive measures.
This delegation is primarily an internal administrative action for the Department of State. Regulated entities or individuals affected by Executive Order 14163 and related proclamations should be aware that the Department of State is now officially empowered to execute these directives. No immediate action is required from external parties based solely on this delegation notice, but it signifies the operationalization of the entry restrictions.
