Legal Aid Provider Survey 2026
Summary
The Legal Aid Agency announces the launch of its 2026 Provider Survey on 27 April 2026, closing on 1 June 2026. The survey targets all providers holding a live legal aid contract and seeks insights on market capacity, demand, and operational challenges. Participation is voluntary but encouraged by the LAA to help shape future legal aid delivery.
What changed
The Legal Aid Agency has published an announcement informing legal aid providers that its annual Provider Survey will open on 27 April 2026 and close on 1 June 2026. Providers with live legal aid contracts will receive survey links via email to their nominated liaison contacts at each office. The survey aims to gather data on market capacity, demand for legal aid services, and operational challenges.
Legal aid providers holding active contracts should be aware of the survey timeline and ensure their nominated liaison contacts can receive and act on the survey invitation. While participation is voluntary, higher response rates will provide more representative data to inform future legal aid policy and delivery arrangements. Providers who do not receive their survey link by 5:00pm on 27 April should contact the LAA Insights Team.

From: Legal Aid Agency Published 14 April 2026
Help us improve our understanding of legal aid capacity and demand by sharing your knowledge and experience. Your valuable insights will strengthen legal aid and shape the future of legal aid delivery.
We will launch a survey for all providers who currently hold a live legal aid contract. The survey will open on 27 April 2026 and close on 1 June 2026.
This survey will help ourselves and the Ministry of Justice develop a more detailed understanding of market capacity and demand for legal aid services. Insights gained from the survey will also highlight the current challenges in how we work with our providers.
We will greatly appreciate providers completion of the survey; the higher the participation rate, the more valuable the insights we can gather to improve the quality of our services.
How will the survey work?
Providers with a live legal aid contract will receive an email and link for each of their offices on 27 April 2026.
The email will be sent to the member of staff nominated by the firm to act as their named liaison between their firm and the LAA. The email will be sent from ProviderSurvey@justice.gov.uk.
If you have not received your survey link by 5:00pm on 27 April 2026, please ask your nominated liaison to check their junk/spam folder. If the link is not there, please contact the LAA Insights Team on the email below to request the link.
Thank you in advance for your participation and valuable insights.
