The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) today celebrated the grand opening of the new location of the Lower Manhattan Career Center at 117 Duane St., New York, N.Y. This marks a significant milestone in providing critical employment resources to job seekers and business owners in lower Manhattan and the New York City area. Job seekers can access a wide range of services, including job preparation workshops, personalized resume assistance, job search strategies, training programs, resources to start and grow a business, and more. There is also a truck driving simulator to help interested candidates obtain commercial driver’s licenses for the City’s high-demand transportation careers.

New York State Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon said, “This new space in Lower Manhattan is part of the Department’s ongoing effort to meet New Yorkers where they are. The center provides residents and businesses with better access to the Department’s free, high-quality career resources and support. I am grateful for our continued collaboration with New York City partners, which allows us to create opportunities for New Yorkers and foster economic growth across the city and state.”

The center’s multi-purpose resource room is dedicated to longtime NYSDOL employee, the late Anthony Robles. During his 24 years with the Department, Anthony helped hundreds of workers find careers they love, embodying one of its core missions. NYSDOL is proud to honor Anthony’s passion for serving others with this dedication.

The Lower Manhattan Career Center is one of around 100 NYSDOL Career Centers statewide, which provided support to nearly a million New Yorkers and more than 27,000 businesses in 2025.

Senator Jessica Ramos said, “Access to good jobs and real opportunity should never depend on your ZIP code. The opening of the new Lower Manhattan Career Center represents an important investment in working people and small businesses alike. By providing free career services, job training resources, and support for local employers, the Department of Labor is helping New Yorkers build stable futures and strengthening our city’s workforce. I’m proud to support efforts that connect our communities to the tools they need to thrive in today’s economy and that honor an exemplary public servant like Anthony Robles.”

Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal said, “The new Lower Manhattan Career Center is an investment in opportunity. By connecting New Yorkers to free job training, career support, and small business resources, this center will help working families thrive and strengthen our local economy. I’m grateful to the State Department of Labor for expanding access to these critical services right here in Lower Manhattan — and for honoring Anthony Robles’ legacy of public service in the process.”
