What changed
The Department of Labor has submitted for OMB review under the Paperwork Reduction Act an information collection request covering seven Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program forms used by employers to certify and report hiring of individuals from target groups facing employment barriers. The notice requests public comments on the necessity of the collection, accuracy of burden estimates, and ways to enhance quality and minimize burden.
For employers currently utilizing or considering utilizing the WOTC program, this notice has no immediate compliance implications. The forms themselves are administrative instruments for claiming the credit rather than imposing new regulatory obligations. Employers should monitor the outcome of this OMB review for potential changes to reporting requirements, though participation in the WOTC program remains voluntary.
