Labor Organization Reports Information Collection Request
Summary
The Department of Labor is submitting an information collection request for Labor Organization and Auxiliary Reports to the OMB for review. This action is related to proposed deregulatory actions concerning filing thresholds and definitions for labor organization reports.
What changed
The Department of Labor (DOL) is seeking OMB approval for an updated information collection request (ICR) concerning Labor Organization and Auxiliary Reports (OMB Control Number: 1245-0003). This submission is in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) and is related to two proposed deregulatory actions published on July 1, 2025, which addressed filing thresholds for Forms LM-2, LM-3, and LM-4, and the definition of a minor child for Form LM-30.
Regulated entities, specifically labor organizations and auxiliaries, are subject to these reporting requirements. The DOL is inviting public comments on the necessity, accuracy, utility, and clarity of the information collection, as well as methods to minimize the burden. While the notice itself does not impose new compliance obligations, it is part of a process to potentially amend existing reporting requirements. The comment period for this ICR closes on April 24, 2026.
What to do next
- Submit written comments and recommendations regarding the information collection to www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAMain by April 24, 2026.
- Review the proposed deregulatory actions published on July 1, 2025, regarding filing thresholds and minor child definitions for relevant forms.
Penalties
No person shall generally be subject to penalty for failing to comply with an information collection that does not display a valid OMB Control Number.
