Law restores whole milk access in schools, overturning 2010 low-fat milk requirement.
President Donald J. Trump signed the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act on January 14, 2026, restoring whole milk access in schools nationwide. The law reverses the low-fat milk requirement established under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 and aligns with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2025-2030. USDA will issue program implementation guidance to school nutrition officials and commence proposed rulemaking to codify the changes.
