Jefferson City, Mo – On December 23, 2025, the Circuit Court of Cole County, Missouri placed Cornerstone National Insurance Company (“Cornerstone”) into receivership. The Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (“DCI”) Director, Angela L. Nelson, has been named receiver of Cornerstone, which allows the Director, as receiver, to take over operations of the company. The Court placed Cornerstone into (1) rehabilitation effective January 1, 2026 to February 28, 2026, and (2) liquidation effective March 1, 2026. All Cornerstone policies will terminate by no later than March 31, 2026.
Cornerstone is a Missouri-domiciled property and casualty insurance company that sells homeowners, auto, and liability insurance policies in various states. It is licensed in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
Cornerstone is a relatively small insurance company. As of September 30, 2025, Cornerstone had only 2,706 in-force insurance policies, primarily in Oklahoma and Illinois. There are no active policies in Missouri.
