Sunil Kurup MD License Suspended in Colorado, North Dakota
Summary
The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure has automatically suspended the Mississippi medical license of Sunil Kurup, MD, due to disciplinary actions in other states, including license suspensions in Colorado and North Dakota. This suspension prohibits Dr. Kurup from practicing medicine in Mississippi.
What changed
The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure (MSBML) has issued an automatic 90-day suspension of Dr. Sunil Kurup's Mississippi medical license, effective October 8, 2025. This action is a direct consequence of disciplinary actions taken against his license in other jurisdictions, specifically the suspension of his licenses in Colorado and North Dakota. As a result, Dr. Kurup is no longer eligible for renewal under the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) and is prohibited from practicing medicine in Mississippi, including via telemedicine, during the suspension period.
This action serves as a critical reminder for healthcare providers licensed in multiple states. Any disciplinary action, including license suspension or revocation, in one state can trigger automatic consequences in other states, particularly under compact agreements like the IMLC. Healthcare providers must ensure they maintain unrestricted licenses in their primary state of licensure and promptly report any disciplinary actions to all other licensing boards. Failure to do so can lead to immediate suspension or revocation of licenses, impacting the ability to practice medicine.
What to do next
- Review disciplinary actions in other states for potential impact on Mississippi license
- Ensure compliance with Interstate Medical Licensure Compact requirements
- Cease all medical practice in Mississippi immediately
Penalties
Automatic 90-day suspension of Mississippi Medical License; Prohibition from practicing medicine in Mississippi.
