What changed
USP expanded its Convention membership by 14 organizations spanning regulatory agencies, pharmaceutical industry groups, patient advocacy organizations, and academic institutions across Africa, Asia, and North America. The Convention serves as one of USP's governing bodies whose participation informs USP's work and elects its Board of Trustees and Council of Experts. This expansion affects organizations engaged with pharmaceutical quality standards, regulatory harmonization, and supply chain resilience — Convention Members gain a formal role in shaping USP's strategic direction and standard-setting priorities.
Affected parties include pharmaceutical manufacturers, regulatory authorities, healthcare practitioners, and patient advocacy organizations that participate in or rely on USP quality standards for medicines, dietary supplements, and food ingredients. The expanded membership broadens the diversity of perspectives informing USP's standard-setting processes but does not create new compliance obligations for regulated entities at this time.
