What changed

The ICIBI has announced a new inspection of the Future Border and Immigration System (FBIS) programme. The inspection will examine three key areas: the transition of benefits from the Digital Permissions delivery area into business-as-usual operations; the realisation of Electronic Travel Authorisation and eVisa fee income benefits; and the arrangements to track Border Vision project benefits enabled by FBIS. The inspection team anticipates reporting to the Home Secretary by July 2026.

This inspection represents an independent review of programme delivery and benefit realisation within the UK's border and immigration systems. While the announcement does not create immediate compliance obligations for external parties, organisations involved in related technology and border systems should monitor for the inspection findings, which may inform future programme requirements and benefit tracking standards.
