What changed
The Supply Act 2026, enacted by the Parliament of Singapore, officially commenced on April 1, 2026. This legislation authorizes the issuance of substantial funds from both the Consolidated Fund and the Development Fund to cover the nation's estimated expenditures for the fiscal year spanning April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. Specifically, the Act permits the issuance of up to $158,962,520,000 from the Consolidated Fund and up to $49,014,559,600 from the Development Fund, with these sums appropriated for various heads of expenditure and development purposes as detailed in the Act's schedule.
This Act establishes the legal framework for government spending for the upcoming fiscal year. Government agencies will operate under the budgetary allocations provided by this Act. While the Act itself does not impose direct compliance obligations on external entities, it is fundamental to the financial operations of the Singaporean public service. Compliance officers within government bodies must ensure adherence to the specified appropriations and expenditure heads. No specific compliance deadline is mentioned for external parties, as this is an internal government financial authorization act.
