The annual Mayor’s Awards Ceremony was held at the Mayor’s Parlour in City Hall on 25 th March 2026, attended by Deputy Governor Mr Marc Holland representing His Excellency The Governor, and the Chief Minister the Hon Fabian Picardo KC MP.

Following nominations from members of the public and endorsed by the Awards Committee, His Worship the Mayor Mr Nicholas Guerrero, conferred The Mayor’s Award as follows:

Mayor’s Award to Mr & Mrs Winston & Vicky Danino

A very well-known couple known for organising countless events and coach trips for the elderly community, whilst also engaging in numerous charitable activities.

Mayor’s Award to Mr Edgar Triay

For his tireless efforts, leadership and dedication in raising awareness and improving services for The Gibraltar Hearing Issues and Tinnitus Association.

Mayor’s Award to Mr Alexander Sanchez- Soiza

For his volunteering commitment to protecting Gibraltar’s coastlines and heritage through the Nautilus Project for over ten years.

Mayor’s Award to Mrs Josefa Alecio

For her extraordinary and lifelong service to Girlguiding for over fifty years.

Mayor’s Award to Mr Mario Prescott

For his untiring dedication given on a voluntary basis, as a member of The Three King’s Cavalcade Committee for over twenty-five years.

Mayor’s Award to Mr Kenneth Martinez

For his bravery and selfless actions in assisting and evacuating residents during a fire at Arengo’s Gardens.

Mayor’s Award to Maria Teresa Roura Vivas

For her dedication, generosity and commitment, in protecting and supporting children and young members of our community as a Childline Helpline Volunteer.

His Worship would also like to express his appreciation to the Minister for Health the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez MP, and GHA Director General Mr Paul Bosio, for the opportunity of presenting The Mayor’s Award to Mr and Mrs Danino at St Bernard’s Hospital.

In conclusion His Worship thanked the community for taking the time to nominate people they felt were worthy of an Award. The recipients are people who do not seek reward or recognition for their good deeds and His Worship was delighted to be able to recognise them on behalf of the People of Gibraltar.
