Notice from the Government of Malta concerning Directive 94/22/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the conditions for granting and using authorisations for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons

Pursuant to the Notice from the Government of Malta concerning the above-mentioned Directive published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 27 April 2023 (2023/C 145/10), the Continental Shelf Department within the Ministry for Finance hereby notifies that Area 2 and Area 7 are now available for authorisation on a permanent basis under either an exploration licence or an exploration and production licence.
Pursuant to Notices 2013/C 127/04, 2014/C 99/4, 2015/C 97/05, 2019/C 258/05 and 2022/C 428/04, the following areas and blocks remain open for authorisation on a permanent basis under either an exploration licence or an exploration and production licence:
| (i) | Area 1 |
| (ii) | Area 3 (Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) |
| (iii) | Area 4 (Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) |
| (iv) | Area 5 and |
| (v) | Area 6. |
Applications shall be made in accordance with the Schedule under Regulation 6 of the Petroleum (Production) Regulations S.L. 156.01. The following fees shall apply:
| — | An application fee of ten thousand euro (EUR 10 000) shall be paid for an exploration licence. |
| — | An application fee of twenty thousand euro (EUR 20 000) shall be paid for an exploration and production licence. |
