The Gibraltar Tourist Board has been awarded ‘Tourist Board of The Year - Silver’ by AITO, The Specialist Travel Association, on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary Celebrations.
The event brought together all classes of its membership, specialist tour operators, travel agents and destination partners to celebrate the achievements and growth of the association since its inception in the 1970s. Gibraltar has been a member since 2003. Attending on the night was the Gibraltar Tourist Board UK Head, Tracey Poggio who received the award alongside other categories which were awarded to Greece, Spain, and Switzerland.
Last year ‘Visit Gibraltar’ hosted its first AITO Famference which was a huge success for AITO members selling out available places in 24 hours. It gave Gibraltar and its suppliers the opportunity to showcase Gibraltar's unique product to UK trade who had previously not visited the destination.
Minister for Tourism, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, said: “The Tourist Board has been impactful across all sectors in the past year. It is rewarding to see that the relationships we have cemented over time are paying dividends particularly as we move forward with new opportunities in Europe and a new chapter in our tourism story.”
