What changed
This document announces a capacity-building workshop for the Parliamentary Press Corps of Ghana, organized by the Parliamentary Service with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the World Bank. The workshop focused on Public Financial Management (PFM) reporting, aiming to equip journalists with a deeper understanding of Ghana's PFM framework, national budgets, fiscal policies, and parliamentary oversight functions. The initiative seeks to improve the media's role in fostering transparency and accountability in governance.
While this is an informational notice about a training event rather than a regulatory change, compliance officers should be aware of the increased focus on PFM reporting. This training signifies a push towards greater scrutiny of fiscal matters by the media, potentially leading to more in-depth reporting on government finances and parliamentary oversight activities. No immediate compliance actions are required for regulated entities, but awareness of enhanced media scrutiny in this area is advisable.
