Summary

The Department of Finance in Northern Ireland has designated 44 bodies under the Government Resources and Accounts Act (Northern Ireland) 2001. This designation is for the financial year ending March 31, 2027, and specifies which bodies are subject to certain estimates and accounts provisions.

What changed

The Department of Finance has issued the Government Resources and Accounts Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (Estimates and Accounts) (Designation of Bodies) Order 2026, designating 44 specific bodies. These bodies are designated for the financial year ending March 31, 2027, in relation to sections 8A and 8B of the Government Resources and Accounts Act (Northern Ireland) 2001, which pertain to estimates and accounts.

This designation means that the listed bodies will be subject to specific reporting and financial management requirements under the Act for the specified financial year. While the order itself does not impose new direct obligations on regulated entities beyond those already covered by the Act, it clarifies which public bodies fall under these provisions. Compliance officers should ensure that any designated bodies within their purview are aware of and adhere to the relevant financial reporting and accountability requirements for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
